In-wall LCR speakers Even if you aren't installing a THX Ultra in-wall surround sound
speaker system, you should definitely still consider going with 3 identical in-wall speakers for your front Left, Center channel, and front Right speakers.
Usually packaged and sold individually, LCR speakers are typically designed to be mounted vertically to
both the left and right sides of, and horizontally underneath, your high definition television and/or front projection screen. Most LCR speakers utilize an MTM (Midrange-Tweeter-Midrange) configuration like "conventional" center channel speakers.
If you understand and/or appreciate the sonic benefits of having a perfectly timbre-matched front audio sound
stage for your home theater room, you should check out some of the THX Ultra2 Certified in-wall speakers available from top
home audio manufacturers like Atlantic Technology, Klipsch, Polk Audio, and Sonance. Each in-wall LCR
speaker showcased in the Amazon carousel above is sold individually, so you will need to order three of them. Some of
the custom installation accessories and necessories are SOLD SEPARATELY. |
In-wall center channel If you've already got other front left and right speakers picked out, you could purchase just a single
in-wall LCR / center channel speaker from the same brand and series
as your left and right speaker pair. The primary job of a center channel speaker is to accurately reproduce the majority of the on screen dialog from TV programming and movie soundtracks.
An in-wall MTM center channel speaker will perform at its best when flush mounted horizontally in the wall directly below a wall mounted flat panel HDTV or front projector screen. If you will be mounting the center channel speaker behind the projection screen so it
sounds like all the dialog is actually coming from the screen, be sure to choose a perforated projection screen
that allows sound from the center speaker to pass through it unimpeded.
Of course, in addition to three LCR speakers, or a speaker pair and the matching center channel speaker, you will also need two to four
surround sound effects speakers, plus one or more powered in-wall subwoofers to provide the Low Frequency Effects for movies and the Deep Bass for music. |
